Buenos Aires is a province with great diversity.
The Province of Buenos Aires is the country’s main touristic destination thanks to the array of places and proposals. From one end to the other of the province,
there are highlights of its geographical settings, its traditions and the quality of its services. All of them still to be discovered by the new visitors.
Diversity is the keyword of the large touristic offering of the Buenos Aires Province; and it brings all year long millions of local and international visitors to
its beaches, mountains, rivers, lakes, farms and “estancias” (ranchs), deltas, thermal waters and villages.
The “Pampas” of Buenos Aires have their symbol at the “estancias” and the “gauchos”. This legendary character, allows Argentineans to live a centennial rural
tradition at the beginning of the twenty first century. Rural villages distributed all along the Buenos Aires Province tell the Argentinean history, next to large
“estancias” that speak of an agricultural and live stock past; leather and silver craftsmen that open their shops to the public and a gastronomy based on the best
meat of Argentina.
More than 300 estancias open to the tourists their splendid constructions, built in the most diverse styles and completely equipped with furniture and ornaments of
the time. These Buenos Aires estancias offer first rate services that include gaucho shows and typical food. Other activities that you may perform are those typical
of a rural establishment: everyday ranch tasks, horse riding, horse taming, rural dancing, and guitar playing around “fogones”, fire pits. You may also enjoy other
recreation activities such as bicycle riding, trail walking, bird watching, fishing and sailing. Most of these establishments are less than 200 miles from the city
of Buenos Aires and they are hosted by the owners.
The “Sierras” (mountains) are to the south of the Province of Buenos Aires. They are called Ventania and Tandilia systems and they are the ideal destination for the
family and the adventure seekers. The Ventania System (ventana means window) receives its name because of the opening on one of its hills which resembles a window.
And the “Sierras de Tandilia” system, one of the oldest on Earth, has rounded peaks easy to climb. This wild and virgin geography made of Buenos Aires plains, hills
and forests is the ideal scenery for walking, trekking, parasailing, horse riding, parachuting, mountain bike, kayak, canopy, and 4x4 rides. It is also an ideal
setting for photographic safaris.
The “Delta del Parana” is to the north-east of the Province, just 35 miles from Buenos Aires and offers 3000 square kilometers of green islands with forests, rivers,
water channels and ponds only reachable through boats and catamarans. This is a different place, with its typical houses over pillars, museums and historical sites,
sport clubs, week-end houses, traditions and its own way of life. Martin Garcia Island, an important natural reserve and historical site is located at the Parana and
Uruguay rivers.
Other important options presented to the tourists are the “lagoons and rivers” that run through the Province of Buenos Aires. All of them offer excellent opportunities
for fishing, nautical sports, boat riding or camping. To the north several rivers and streams make the Parana-Platense basin. At the center of the Province runs the
Rio Salado with its mouth into the Bahia de Samborombon that builds a system of rivers, streams and lagoons. The lagoons account for important touristic centers for
the week-end, like those of Junin, Lobos, Monte and Chascomus.
The Cities in the Province of Buenos Aires accommodate 13 million inhabitants distributed into 134 municipalities. All along the Province of Buenos Aires there are
important urban centers with prime construction developments, such as housing, industrial and commercial buildings, as well as small villages that still keep the quiet,
friendly rhythm characteristic of rural cities.
Buenos Aires also offers “hot baths”, thermal waters that along with spa complexes lately became very popular.
The Beaches of Buenos Aires are the preferred place for the Argentineans and their neighboring countries to spend their summer vacations. They receive approximately
8 million tourists annually. Buenos Aires has more than 1.200 kilometers of beaches along the Atlantic Coast that offer a particular style that may still be enjoyed
on a day where the sun is not present. Some of the most important beaches are Mar del Plata, Pinamar, Villa Gesell, Miramar, and Necochea. Some of them are wilder and
more secluded; others are integrated as big urban destinations. For your accommodation needs you will find from hotels, to camping, private houses and
apartment buildings with great amenities.
